CONTEMPORARY

While primarily focusing on proprioceptive awareness, dancers will learn to explore movements with music, along with incorporating technique and tricks to enhance their dancing.

HIPHOP

At AthElite Dance, hip-hop dance is a vibrant form of dance that combines a variety of freestyle and athletic movements with the addition of tricks.

JAZZ

At AthElite Dance jazz can include Broadway Jazz, Street Jazz, Jazz Funk, and Lyrical Jazz. Typical elements of jazz dance are isolation movements, precise leg, arm and foot movements, breathtaking jumping techniques and twists.

BALLET

Ballet classes are the foundation for training and focus on developing a solid ballet technique with an emphasis on understanding correct body placement, proper turn out, coordination of the upper and lower body, and use of arms.

COMBO

Combo focuses on AthElite Dance’s 3 main competition styles: Hip Hop, Jazz, and Contemporary.

CONDITIONING

Sport/dance specific training to build cardiovascular endurance, strength, and core stability.

STRETCHING & YOGA

Using blocks, bands, yoga/pilates, and our own bodies, Stretch is a class built around the intention of increasing flexibility.

TRICKS

Sport/dance specific training to build cardiovascular endurance, strength, and core stability. This can range from technical “tricks” like leaps, turns, jumps, to tumbling specific “tricks” for hip hop.

TUMBLING

With the focus on strength and balance, this class teaches proper techniques for moves ranging from forward rolls to back tucks and aerials. Great for all hip hop dancers.

For those interested in taking their dance training to the next level, we also offer private lessons.

PRESCHOOL

The preschool program will educate students on basic athletic movement, simple tumbling, ballet technique, and center floor work. Elementary dance movements, positions, and terminology will be taught along with flexibility and musicality to expose students to the world of dance.

PRE-COMPETITIVE

PreCompetitive class will focus on basic dance technique and fundamental skills required to make our competition team! This class will prepare dancers for AthElite’s Summer Beginner/Intermediate Camp and other specific classes offered at AthElite Dance such as Ballet, Tumbling, Stretch, Combo, and more!

Please note dancers in the PreCompetitive class are not required to compete.

COMPETITION TEAM

AthElite Dance’s competition dance team has five levels of dance, and each level has a skill requirement they must meet to perform. The competition team performs in at least four competitions in the spring within the Mid Atlantic region. Our Preschool and PreCompetitive levels perform in the last two competitions of the season.
